The Ukrainian Shakhtar stated that they do not know where midfielder Rasputko went

The Ukrainian Shakhtar made a statement about the escaped football player Alexander Rasputko. The club’s commentary is provided by UA Football.

“The player received a boarding pass, checked in his suitcase and did not show up to board the plane,” the team said about what happened, noting that they do not know where the midfielder went next. Shakhtar emphasized that if there were prerequisites for escape, the player would have remained in Ukraine and would not have gone to the match abroad.

“We contacted him with an official letter demanding that he return to the team’s location within five days. If he does not return, the contract will be terminated due to the player’s fault. The club reserves the right to demand financial compensation from him,” the club added. They concluded that Rasputko should bear responsibility as an employee of the club and as a citizen of Ukraine.

Earlier on October 13, it became known that Rasputko disappeared at the airport after the UEFA Youth League match in Belgium on October 4. It was also reported that the athlete asked for political asylum in Russia. The footballer’s pro-Russian position was cited as one of the reasons for his escape.
