Karpin said that he called up players who had proven themselves in the RPL for the match with Cameroon
The head coach of the Russian national football team, Valery Karpin, spoke about the team’s tactics for the friendly match with Cameroon. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“Initially you need to match the physically strong players in Cameroon. Let’s call it this: “First the muscles on the field, and then, perhaps, the fantasy players,” the specialist said. He also commented on the selection of players for this meeting, explaining that he included players who had already taken part in friendly matches of the national team in the 2023/2024 season and who had proven themselves in the Russian Premier League (RPL).
The Russian national team’s match against Cameroon will take place on October 12. The meeting will take place at the VTB Arena stadium in Moscow and will begin at 19:00 Moscow time. On October 16, the Russians will also play a friendly match with Kenya.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian national teams and clubs from international tournaments. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the final part of the 2022 World Cup.
