French forward Benzema says he wants to help Saudi football grow
French striker Karim Benzema explained his move to the Saudi Arabian Championship. His words are quoted on the league’s social network page. X.
“I wanted to be in Saudi Arabia long before football. Then a football project appeared that blew everything up. I really wanted to become part of history,” said the forward. He said he wants to help Saudi football grow.
Benzema noted that he was received well in Saudi Arabia. “I was received with open arms. “I immediately felt how loved I was,” the athlete added.
On June 6, Benzema joined the Saudi Al-Ittihad squad. The 35-year-old football player’s contract runs until 2026.
Previously, Benzema played for Real Madrid for 14 years. Together with the team, he won the Spanish championship four times, won the Cup three times and the country’s Super Cup four times. In addition, the footballer won the Champions League and the Club World Cup five times.
