Football player Yakov Shmelev said that in the USA people are more friendly than in Russia
Russian football player Yakov Shmelev compared the mentality of the two nations with an American passport. His words are quoted by Sports.ru.
In his opinion, in the USA people are more friendly. “In Tolyatti you definitely won’t be able to say hello to anyone. It seems to me that even if you find yourself in an elevator with someone, no one will say anything,” said the athlete, noting that he was expressing a subjective point of view.
On October 11, Shmelev, who played in the USA, explained the transition to the championship of Gibraltar (British overseas territory). He stated that he decided to go to the European championship for the sake of development.
Shmelev joined the Lions in August 2023 as a free agent. The contract with the Gibraltar club is for one season. As part of the new team, he played four matches without scoring any goals.
