Khabib Nurmagomedov said that UFC fighter Islam Makhachev does not care who he fights
Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned) made a statement about the rematch of the Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Islam Makhachev with the Australian Alexander Volkanovski.
Nurmagomedov said that the Russian does not care about his opponent, and drew attention to the fact that Makhachev is the world champion. “If the opponent makes weight and the UFC calls him a legitimate contender, then go ahead. Even if King Kong makes 70 kilograms, then give him here,” he added.

Earlier on October 11, it became known that Brazilian Charles Oliveira withdrew from the fight against the Russian due to injury. He said he suffered a serious cut to his eyebrow and needed nine stitches. After this, UFC head Dana White announced that he would be replaced by featherweight belt holder Volkanovski in the fight on October 21.
Volkanovski and Makhachev already met in the Octagon in February 2023. Then the Russian won by unanimous decision.
