On Monday, October 9, a pre-election debate took place with the participation of representatives of all national electoral committees. The event was hosted by Michał Rachoń and Anna Bogusiewicz. “It was not supposed to be a debate between equal participants, but a match for the opposition on the opponent’s territory. There is still a long way to an electoral victory, but the opposition clearly won this fixed away match,” he wrote after the broadcast.

What happened on air outraged viewers. Maciej Orłości summed up on social media that the material “will one day be shown at journalism studies as a denial of all rules.” He called the debate “a total collapse of all norms, principles, rules of journalistic workshop and journalistic ethics – in general, and public media even more so.”
Telewizja Polska made the recording of the debate available on the website vod.tvp.pl, just like other programs, films and series from its offer. However, the political event was assigned to a surprising category.

There are no pre-election talks in news, programs or even documents. “Election Debate 2023” has been added to the series category, where we can check how many seasons and episodes it has. Important material is also not displayed on the application’s home page.

This is not the first confusion related to the debate. Last week, it was planned that the recording would take place in the TVP studio at 9 p.m. Later, the plans were changed and the talks were moved to the ATM studio at 6:30 p.m. TVP did not inform viewers about the change of time, and because it was quite early, many people did not watch it.
A more convenient way to watch the debate is to use YouTube. The material was made available on the TVP Info channel. Currently, the hour-long recording has had over 800,000 views and has been commented on 12,000 times.
