“Every little victory is cause for celebration,” says Pelé during his last chemotherapy session this year.

The three-time world champion is at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he was admitted throughout the month of September after the extraction.

Former Brazilian soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento Pelé, 81, celebrated yesterday, Thursday, that he is in his last chemotherapy session of the year and announced that he will stay “a few days” more in the hospital where he is admitted for a “new battery of exams ”.

“I wanted to share this achievement with you. After all, every little victory is cause for celebration, don’t you think? ”Said the triple world champion (1958, 1962 and 1970) in a message posted on his social networks.

Pelé is at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, where he was hospitalized throughout the month of September after the removal of a tumor in the colon that has forced him to undergo chemotherapy treatment, to which, according to his doctors, he has reacted in a satisfying way”.

That tumor was detected in routine examinations that he had postponed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

In an attempt to reassure his millions of followers, Pelé reported that he is completing “the last chemotherapy session of 2021” and that he will undergo further tests to determine his state of health.

“Don’t worry, I’m just getting ready for the end of the year parties!” He said wryly.

The day before, when it was learned that he had returned to the hospital, the medical team assured that he was “stable” and that the forecast is that he will be discharged “in the next few days.”

Pelé’s health has deteriorated in recent years due to spinal, hip and knee problems that have reduced his mobility and forced him to undergo surgery, in addition to suffering from some kidney crises.

The former Santos y Cosmos footballer, however, has remained active on social networks and on October 23, when he turned 81, he published a message in which he claimed to feel recovered and “increasingly younger.” (D)
