After 11 months of major overhaul, the Mayakovskaya metro station was opened in St. Petersburg. According to the press service of the subway, you can enter the lobby only from Nevsky Prospekt, and go out onto Marata Street.
The innovations have affected the inclined course of the station, where the escalators are located. Replaced the balustrade. The walls and columns are faced with Sayan marble, and the floor is faced with granite. The bas-relief of Vladimir Mayakovsky has been restored.
New doors have been installed for people with limited mobility. Visually impaired people will be able to navigate by tactile contrast markings in the lobby.
“Schedule of the station: at the entrance the lobby is open from 05-40 to 00-25 hours, at the exit – from 05-40 to 00-45 hours”, – reminded the metro.
Petersburgers were delighted with the long-awaited opening of Mayakovskaya. However, some townspeople recalled the previous metro-building experience and asked if the lobby would leak.
“Is it too weak to open ten new stations?” – asked a resident of the Northern capital on social networks, hinting at recent innovations in the Moscow subway.
As a reminder, the Mayakovskaya metro station was closed on January 10. The work was carried out for the first time since its opening in 1967.
