Karpin called the cancellation of the UEFA decision on the admission of Russian youth teams unexpected
The head coach of the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, appreciated the cancellation of the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to admit Russian youth teams to tournaments. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Karpin called the incident a surprise. “I didn’t expect that they would allow it, I didn’t expect that it would be cancelled,” he said.
Earlier on October 10, it became known that the decision of the UEFA executive committee on the admission of Russian national teams among players under 17 years of age to international competitions was canceled. According to British journalist Rob Harris, the organization was unable to find a technical solution that would allow Russian teams to compete.
On September 26, the UEFA Executive Committee proposed allowing Russian youths to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. After this, some countries, including Ukraine and England, announced their intention to boycott matches with Russian teams.
