There will be changes in the payment of the 13th and 14th pensions in 2024. Can seniors benefit? According to calculations, up to PLN 428

It cannot be denied that the payment of “thirteen” and “fourteen” pensions slightly increased the budgets of retirees. These types of benefits have become the cash injection that many seniors have been waiting for. What will the situation with such additions look like next year? Changes related to these benefits may affect their amount.

This year, it was first paid on the 13th, and a few months later the so-called fourteen. These are two benefits that were intended to supplement the home budget of many seniors. Changes in the payment of the 13th and 14th pension. Seniors can receive more money

So far, both “thirteen” and “fourteen” were paid from the Solidarity Fund managed by the Social Insurance Institution. However, from next year this will change and these types of benefits will go to eligible people directly from the state budget. The draft act allocates PLN 30 billion for this purpose. It is worth remembering, however, that until now they were taxed, which meant that seniors receiving a low pension also lost valuable zlotys. It turns out that the above changes may affect what the PIT case will look like next year.

How much will the 13th and 14th pension be? The expert indicates that it should be higher

In an interview with expert Dr. Antoni Kolek, he admits that these changes may have a positive impact on the payment of allowances because they will now be paid from the budget, and therefore should not be taxed. – An example would be other benefits, such as 500 plus, which is also financed from the budget and is not taxed. Therefore, if we follow the logic of benefit payments, we must bear in mind that children aged thirteen and fourteen should be exempt from PIT – he says. The portal notes that if such a situation occurred, seniors receiving a PLN 1,500 pension would gain as much as PLN 132 from both supplements. Fakt’s calculations show that those who receive benefits from PLN 2,300 to PLN 2,500 will save the most on tax, because in the 13th and 14th pension they will gain up to PLN 428.
