The head of the IOC announced the federations’ support for the idea of admitting Russia

Bach said that the majority of international federations support Russia’s admission

The head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, announced support from sports federations for the idea of allowing the Russian team to compete. His words are quoted by Inside the Games.

“Most international federations apply our recommendations to achieve this goal, to fulfill our mission,” Bach said. He emphasized that those world championships and qualifying competitions in which Russians are already taking part were organized without serious incidents.

On September 4, Bach named the condition for admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in Paris. “No national teams, no anthems, no flag colors, no national identification in relation to Russia,” he said.

In March, the IOC recommended allowing Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special military operation in Ukraine to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in tournaments.
