Nurmagomedov responded to doping allegations

Nurmagomedov denied Green’s words that he and Makhachev use doping

Former champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov denied the words of American fighter Bobby Green, who accused him and Russian Islam Makhachev of doping. The ex-athlete spoke out on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).

“I passed the drug test 49 times in five years. Islam will soon have 50 tests. Someone tell Bobby: what Islam did to him was pure technique, developed over the years,” Nurmagomedov replied.

Earlier on October 6, Green accused Nurmagomedov and current UFC champion Makhachev of doping fraud and said that the promotion was holding Makhachev’s fights in Abu Dhabi because the Russians were cheating. “Nurmagomedov and Makhachev visit the mosque, they train there, but other people cannot enter there. Even officers from the American Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). It allows them to do whatever they want,” Green said.

In February 2022, Green and Makhachev fought at the UFC Vegas 49 tournament. The Russian won, knocking out his opponent in the first round. A few months later, USADA suspended Green for six months after anabolic steroids were detected in his out-of-competition doping test.

Makhachev is the current UFC lightweight champion. In his career, the Russian fought 25 fights, in which he won 24 victories and suffered one defeat.
