Transfermarkt named Zenit player Wendel the most expensive RPL footballer
Brazilian footballer Zenit Wendel has been named the most expensive player in the Russian Premier League (RPL). The rating was compiled by the Transfermarkt portal.
The cost of the 26-year-old midfielder is estimated at 24 million euros. In second place is his teammate and compatriot Claudinho (20 million), the top three is closed by another Brazilian Douglas Santos (18 million), who also plays for Zenit.
On the fourth line is the goalkeeper of Krasnodar and the Russian national team Matvey Safonov, who is valued at 16 million euros. The Colombian from Zenit, Vilmar Barrios, who ended up in fifth place, costs the same.
The last five Russian championships were won by Zenit. This season, after ten rounds, the blue-white-blues are in fourth place, seven points behind the leading Krasnodar.
