The IOC said that it did not prohibit Russians from competing at the 2024 Youth Olympics
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) denied information about a ban on Russians participating in the 2024 Youth Olympic Games. The organization’s commentary is reported by TASS.
“At this stage, no individual neutral athlete has qualified to compete at the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympic Games,” the IOC said, adding that no further decision had been made. Thus, Russian athletes retain the opportunity to qualify for competitions.
Earlier it was reported that Russian athletes were refused access to the Youth Olympics. “If we talk about the 2024 Winter Youth Games, then not a single neutral athlete can individually participate in Gangwon-do,” the organization told Soviet Sport.
The tournament will take place from January 19 to February 2, 2024 in South Korea. Athletes aged 15 to 18 years can take part in it.
