Sky Sports: Ronaldo faces new sexual assault lawsuit
Portugal national team player and Saudi Al-Nasr footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been hit with a new lawsuit for sexual assault. Sky Sports reports this.
Lawyers for American Katherine Mayorga are asking the US Circuit Court of Appeals to reinstate the lawsuit, which was first filed in 2018. In 2022, the lawsuit was dismissed due to the fact that the victim’s lawyer, Leslie Mark Stovall, used stolen confidential documents.
In September 2018, an American woman accused the Portuguese striker of rape. According to her, the incident occurred in 2009 in Las Vegas. Mayorga claimed that the football player paid her $375 thousand for silence. Ronaldo denied the accusations.
Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d’Or winner. He has five Champions League victories to his name, as well as league titles in England, Spain and Italy. Together with the Portuguese national team, the footballer became the 2016 European champion, the silver and bronze medalist of the continental championship, and the winner of the 2019 UEFA Nations League.
