The International Olympic Committee (IOC) refused to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Youth Olympic Games. The organization’s commentary is provided by “Soviet Sport”.

“When it comes to the 2024 Winter Youth Games, no neutral individual athlete can participate in Gangwon-do,” the organization said. The tournament for athletes aged 15 to 18 years will be held from January 19 to February 2, 2024 in South Korea.

At the previous Games, which took place in 2020 in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Russian team won the medal standings. The team won 10 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze awards.

On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who do not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended not to be allowed to participate in tournaments.
