Strong and convincing victory for Real Sociedad away from home against Salzburg in the match on the second day of the group stage of the Champions League. Imanol’s men have been very superior to their rival from the beginning and thanks to this victory and the draw at home against Inter on the first day, they now have 4 points in the group D standings.

From the beginning of the match, the San Sebastian team clearly dominated the game and did not allow a single shot against their goal in the first half.

The two goals came in the first half. The first, in the 7th minute, was signed by captain Mikel Oyarzabal with a left-footed shot from the edge of the area that surprised the local goalkeeper, Alexander Schlager.

Twenty minutes later, and after several more chances, Brais Méndez scored Real Sociedad’s second goal after a counterattack and thanks to a left-footed shot that again left the Austrian team’s goalkeeper with no chance.

The Gipuzkoa team had more chances against a stunned Salzburg that failed to organize its game and create danger in front of Real’s goal at any time.

The second half began with a possible penalty in favor of the locals, but the VAR decided after several minutes of deliberations to annul the maximum penalty and also remove a yellow card that goalkeeper Alex Remiro had received.

Salzburg managed to stabilize both in defense and attack, but was not able to create real dangerous situations against a Real team that was firm in defense and took three very valuable points.
