In the UK, a fan was arrested for mocking a boy with cancer
A British fan was arrested for mocking a six-year-old boy who died from cancer. The BBC reports this.
According to the source, the incident occurred on September 30 during the Championship match between Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland. Two men mocked Bradley Lowry, a Sunderland boy who suffered from neuroblastoma, a malignant tumor of the sympathetic nervous system. One fan showed a zoomed-in photo of the boy in a Sunderland kit on his phone while another laughed at it.
Both men were arrested. The fan who showed the photograph was charged with disturbing public order. He faces a ban from attending football matches. The other fan was released on bail pending an investigation.
Bradley Lowry passed away on July 7, 2017. He supported Sunderland. Thousands of team fans, as well as football players and members of the coaching staff, came to say goodbye to the boy. Everton donated £200,000 for the boy’s treatment.
