President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov spoke about the sports available to Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Rozhkov suggested that swimming and athletics would be suitable for Kostomarov. “Roman is an academic himself, a super athlete, we won’t recommend anything new to him. The man overcame difficult circumstances, he is an example for many of our athletes,” he added.
On September 29, Kostomarov showed how he swims in the pool with prosthetic legs. He noted that he could swim like a dolphin. The skater also regularly publishes videos from training in the gym.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. Doctors amputated both feet of the skater, then the shins of both legs, the entire hand of his right hand and several fingers of his left.
