Tarasova called figure skater Duhamel’s accusations against Russians of doping nonsense
Honored Coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova responded to Olympic figure skating champion, Canadian Megan Duhamel, who accused Russian athletes of doping. Her words are quoted by Match TV.
Tarasova called the athlete’s words nonsense. “And why was Duhamel silent for ten years and didn’t speak about her suspicions before? And it’s none of her business why athletes go to the doctor,” she said.
On September 28, Duhamel said that skaters who trained in Russia talked about using a substance like black tar. She also remembered how the Russian couple Fedor Klimov and Ksenia Stolbova disappeared into the locker room with their doctor Philip Shvetsky during warm-ups, which seemed strange to the Canadian.
Duhamel won one Olympic gold medal in pair skating and twice became world champion. She has repeatedly accused Russian figure skaters of doping. In April 2023, the Russian Foreign Ministry banned the athlete from entering the country.
