After it was announced that this year would be the last festival EHZ which would be held in Irisarri, one of the most famous festivals in the Basque Country now has a new destination, Arberatze, in the Amikuze region of Lower Navarra. There will be held the 28th Euskal Herria Zuzenean Festival, from June 28 to 30, 2024.

The organization held its annual meeting today and the new location was decided there. The music festival will thus begin a new stage. EHZ first arrived in Irisarri in 2019, having previously passed through Arrose, Idauze-Mendi, Heleta and Lekorne.

The organization has made a positive assessment of the EHZ in recent years in today’s assembly and they have highlighted that Irisarri has given stability to the festival: “It has recovered collaborators, it has stabilized the economic model and it has also brought more audiences.”

They have highlighted that the change of location follows the trend that has always been done in the history of the EHZ, “the generational change and the change of location have gone hand in hand.” And, in his words, “staying in one place has a risk: comfort, and therefore wanting to do bigger things.”

The change of venue responds, therefore, to the determination not to lose the simplicity that characterizes the festival: “EHZ will be at Amikuze for the first time. Now we will have to see what Arberatz, Amikuze, will bring to the festival, and what the festival has to offer to Amukuza, since this is an exchange.”
