O Manchester City is close to renewing young attacking midfielder Phil Foden’s contract. Its current link with citizens runs until June 2024, but the parties are already talking to sign a new agreement, according to the newspaper The Athletic.
Foden is a spawn of City youth and one of the main talents in European football today. The 21-year-old made his professional debut in 2017 and has since been worked on by coach Pep Guardiola.
Acting in different ranges of the field, Foden has established himself as a regular at City and was an important player last season, when the team won the Premier League and was a finalist in the Champions League. In all, the young man has 130 games at the club’s professional level and 33 goals scored.
Foden’s rise was so fast that the player is a constant figure in Gareth Southgate’s squad for England. The young man was part of the runner-up group at this year’s Euro Cup.
