Canadian hockey player “Amur” Cameron Lee received Russian citizenship
Canadian hockey player of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) club “Amur” Cameron Lee received Russian citizenship. This was reported in a decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The athlete was granted the right to become a citizen of Russia in accordance with paragraph “a” of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The corresponding document was signed on September 27 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On August 1, Lee said that the initiative to get a Russian passport came from him, because he likes Russia and Khabarovsk. He emphasized that he is completely satisfied with the conditions that have been created at Amur for hockey players. “I would like to become part of the country. Well, and part of his club, of course,” the defender concluded.
The defender moved to Amur in 2022. In the last KHL regular championship, he played 53 matches and scored 20 (7 plus 13) points.
