The UAF called for a boycott of matches with the Russian youth team, following England
The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) has called for, following England, a boycott of matches involving the Russian youth team. The statement was published on the organization’s website.
“The UAF strongly condemns the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to return U17 teams from the Russian Federation to international competitions,” the organization added. It is noted that Ukrainian teams will refuse to participate in tournaments to which Russian football players will be allowed.
On September 26, the Football Association of England announced that junior teams would refuse matches with Russian teams. The organization stated that it opposes the return of Russia to the number of participants in the Union of European Football Associations competitions.
On the same day, the UEFA Executive Committee proposed allowing Russian national teams among players under 17 years of age to participate in international tournaments. The executive committee noted that the proposal includes admission in a neutral status, that is, athletes can receive the right to compete without the flag and anthem.
