Judge Opeikina: salaries in the Women’s Super League are comparable to salaries in the Second League
Russian referee Vera Opeikina named the difference in salaries at matches between men’s and women’s teams. Her words are quoted by “Championship”.
Opeikina stated that the salaries in the women’s Super League are comparable to the salaries in the men’s Second League. She also added that being assigned to the video assistant referee system (VAR) in a match of the Russian Premier League RPL brings in half as much as working as the chief referee in the Second League.
Opeikina became the first female referee to be appointed to the RPL Path match in the Fonbet Russian Cup. She officiated the game in which Baltika Kaliningrad and Krylia Sovetov Samara met (3:2).
Opeikina also worked at the Women’s League of Nations match between the national teams of Armenia and Kazakhstan, which took place on September 26. She became the first Russian woman in a year and a half to officiate at a meeting of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA)
