Promes, in response to information about the scandal in the police, urged not to believe the hype
The Dutch striker of Spartak Quincy Promes responded to information about the scandal he created at the police department in Moscow. The player spoke out on Instagram (the social network is prohibited in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and is banned).
“Don’t believe the hype,” Promes urged. He also posted a photo from an elevator with friends.
On September 25, Mash reported that a legionnaire at the police department was indignant and expressed complaints to law enforcement officers after learning about the detention of his friends. It was noted that they were suspected of using drugs, and the football player offered a bribe and begged to let his comrades go.
Later, the head of the Spartak press service, Dmitry Zelenov, said that Promes has no problems with the Russian police. “The video in question is from a year ago. Then Quincy really came to find out what happened to his comrades. And in this video no illegal actions are visible, nothing is clearly heard,” he emphasized.
On June 19, a court in the Netherlands sentenced Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison. The 31-year-old attacker was found guilty of armed assault and stabbing his cousin.
Promes returned to Spartak in February 2021. Before that, he played for the red and white from 2014 to 2018, becoming the champion of Russia and the winner of the country’s Super Cup with the team.
