RUSADA announced a violation of anti-doping rules by American figure skater Zhou
The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) responded to a statement by American figure skater Vincent Zhou about the doping situation in Russia. The words of the organization’s press service are reported by RIA Novosti.
RUSADA accused Zhou of concealing from the anti-doping organization the fact of violations of anti-doping rules by other athletes or their entourage. “Individuals who have knowledge about the use of prohibited substances and do not promptly report this to anti-doping organizations are themselves thereby participating in an anti-doping rule violation (that is, complicity),” the organization explained.
Earlier, Zhou spoke about the widespread prevalence of doping among Russian figure skaters. “Positive doping test [Камилы] Valieva is not an isolated case,” said the athlete.
At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, Valieva won the team tournament as part of the Russian team, but the award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners was not held due to a doping scandal involving her participation. Traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found in the skater’s sample from December 2021. Hearings in Valieva’s case will take place from September 26 to 29.
