Russian mixed style (MMA) fighters Khabib Nurmagomedov and Fedor Emelianenko answered the question of what fights in the Octagon mean to them. They talked about this in the documentary series “The Big Battle”, quotes from which are given by Sport24.

Nurmagomedov called fighting an art. “There are some fighters who, over time, come to the conclusion that they are creative people. Although from the outside they don’t look like that at all. They become creative people because they can draw. Paint a picture of the battle,” he said.

Emelianenko compared the fights to a chess game. “But in this chess game you need to be at the peak of strength, endurance, speed, and tactical training. Everything should be at its peak. But first of all, you need to beat your opponent with your head,” he noted.

Nurmagomedov defended his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight title three times before retiring. In total, the athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights.

Emelianenko Sr. has 40 victories and seven defeats; another fight with his participation was declared invalid. The Russian held the titles of champion of the Pride and RINGS organizations.
