Coach Stratton-Mills recommended swimming breaststroke to strengthen leg muscles
Fitness expert Cece Marizu and Cleveland Institute of Swimming head coach Rachel Stratton-Mills talk about the benefits of training in the water. Her words are quoted by Shape magazine.
“Water is resistance, and in order to move in it without drowning, every major muscle group in your body, especially the core, must engage,” Marizu said.
Stratton-Mills added that to work more muscles from different angles, simply switch from one swimming style to another during training. “Backstroke is particularly effective at working the core and hip flexors,” she explained. To strengthen your legs, the specialist advised swimming breaststroke.
Earlier, fitness expert Anastasia Yurkova spoke about the possibility of combining alcohol and training. “You shouldn’t drink alcohol if you have a workout tomorrow, as it can lead to disruption of the cardiovascular system,” she said.
