San Pedro and Bueu have achieved promotion to the Eusko Label Leaguethe highest category of trawlers, being the two best in the ‘playoff’ for promotion or permanence that held its second and final regatta in Portugalete this Sunday, September 17.

The ‘Libia’, like on Saturday in Bermeo, has once again been the fastest also in the Nervión estuary and has obtained the first ticket at stake. Second place has gone to the Galicians from Bueu who, despite achieving the same points as Lapurdi, have added less time than the boat from Iparralde in the calculation of the two days.

Santurtzi, who descends from the first division after becoming champion in 2020 and 2021, and Ares completed the ‘playoff’ classification.

The regatta has been exciting. In the first ciaboga Santurtzi set the best time, 1 second ahead of Lapurdi, 2 seconds ahead of Bueu, 3 seconds ahead of San Pedro and 4 seconds ahead of Ares. However, in the second pitch San Pedro took the lead, gaining 3 seconds over Santurtzi, Lapurdi and Ares, while Ares lost 5 seconds.

San Pedro remained in first place after the third ciaboga maneuver and faced the final stretch with an advantage of 5 seconds over Santurtzi, 6 over Lapurdi and Bueu and 9 over Ares.

In the final meters, San Pedro did not slow down and took victory with a time of 19:59.76. Lapurdi was second at 4 seconds, Santurtzi third at 5, Bueu fourth at 6 and Ares fifth at 12.

With these results, San Pedro returns to the main trawler league four years after losing the category in 2019. For Bueu it will be their debut in the Eusko Label League, becoming the sixth Galician club to row in this competition after Cabo da Cruz, which has 16 seasons, Tirán (14), Mecos (5) and Ares and Samertolameu, both with four and the latter directly relegated this campaign.

The final general classification of the play-off It has been left as follows: San Pedro first with 12 points, Good second with 6, Lapurdi third with 6, Santurtzi fourth with 4 and Ares also fifth with 4 points.
