Emelec won the 2021 Lacosta Country Club Clausura Polo Tournament by prevailing with solvency, and taking revenge, in the final against the Monokrispy team by 5-1, last Saturday.

The electric quartet, made up of Rafael Dillon, Paulo Vintimilla, Leonardo Carrión and Carlos Carrión (captain), went from less to more in the contest, which had the participation of four groups.

The millionaires qualified for the definition of the tournament in the third and last regular day after beating La Portada 6-2, on December 1. Before, they suffered a loss against Monokrispy (6-5) and reached a draw against Los Obreros (5-5).

When drawing on the end date Los Obreros and Monokrispy (3-3), Emelec finished second and obtained the ticket to the definition, where the rival on duty was already waiting. Once there, the electricians were relentless.

The game schedule began on November 26, when Los Obreros and La Portada equaled 6, which led to the distribution of one point for each team. On the same day, but on the 27th, Monokrispy beat Emelec 6-5; the victory meant three points to the winner, while the defeated did not receive any unity.

The second date, November 28, resulted in a new tie for Los Obreros, this time with Emelec and 5-5. Later the same day, Monokrispy clinched the title dispute by beating La Portada 5-3.

Before the final on Saturday, Los Obreros edged La Portada 5-4 1/2 in the dispute for third place.

It was the third sporting event organized by the Polo Lacosta club this season. The first event was the Apertura Tournament, held in July, in which three teams participated and whose champion was the white team. The second event was the Heineken Guayas Polo Cup, in which five teams participated representing Polo Lacosta and Guayaquil Polo Club. The winner was the yellow team. (D)
