Coach Valery Karpin allowed his departure from Rostov and the Russian national football team
The head coach of the Russian national team and the Russian Premier League (RPL) club “Rostov” Valery Karpin assessed the possibility of ending his coaching career. He spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “This is football, brother!”
The specialist admitted leaving the teams. “At the moment, I can’t and don’t want to leave Rostov. I speak honestly. It’s September now, in November we’ll still fly and travel, I’ll be without my family for another three weeks and I’ll say: “That’s it, I don’t want to.” I don’t give a damn about anything – that’s all. This could happen. We’ll wait and see,” he said.
Karpin will lead the national team in the summer of 2021. The agreement with the coach runs until August 2024. The specialist returned to Rostov in March 2022. He previously worked at the club from 2017 to 2021.
Russian national teams and clubs have not competed in international tournaments since February 2022 due to sanctions from the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
