Russian biathletes were not allowed to enter the stadium in Austria due to new covid restrictions. This was reported by Match TV.
Eduard Latypov and Vasily Tomshin could not get to training in the Austrian Hochfiltsin due to forgotten phones. To enter the stadium, athletes had to provide volunteers with the results of PCR tests via email. Athletes were allowed in only after they presented a negative test on someone else’s device.
New covid restrictions introduced in Austria due to the spread of the omicron strain have changed the way athletes work. Biathletes who have not been vaccinated with European vaccines and do not have a certificate of a previous illness must take PCR tests every three days. Athletes can enter the stadium only if they have accreditation and a negative test.
The World Cup stage will be held in Hochfilzin from December 10 to 12. For the second year in a row, the competition will be held without spectators.
