Oleg Matytsin allowed athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games, but without signing declarations
Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin named the conditions for the participation of domestic athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Matytsin admitted that some athletes will be able to perform in Paris, despite the sanctions of international organizations. “But with compliance with at least the minimum requirements and without crossing the “red line” – signing declarations, condemning the policies of the president and government,” he said.
In March, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the CBO be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in tournaments.
The Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. The issue of the participation of Russian athletes in competitions has not yet been resolved.
