Olympic champion Romashina said about the decline in the morale of athletes
Seven-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Romashina spoke about the attitude of athletes towards exclusion from international tournaments. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
Romashina said that she noticed a drop in the morale of the athletes. “But everyone is staying strong, training and believing in the best,” she added.
On March 28, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be excluded from participation in competitions.
At the end of February 2022, many sports organizations banned Russians from participating in tournaments on the recommendation of the IOC. At the same time, in some disciplines, such as tennis, MMA and chess, Russian athletes were not excluded and continued to perform in a neutral status.
