Coach Cherchesov called Akinfeev, Ovchinnikov and Dasaev the best goalkeepers in Russia
Former head coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov named the three best goalkeepers in the country. His words are quoted by Bookmakers Rating.
The specialist singled out CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, former Lokomotiv player Sergei Ovchinnikov and Rinat Dasaev. “They are different in style and temperament. I wouldn’t put someone lower or someone higher now,” he said.
Akinfeev is a bronze medalist at the 2008 European Championship as part of the Russian national team. At the club level, the footballer plays for CSKA, with whom he won the championship six times, the National Cup seven times and the Russian Super Cup. In addition, as part of the army team, Akinfeev won the UEFA Cup.
Dasaev played 91 matches as a member of the USSR national team. Ovchinnikov played for Lokomotiv in 1992-1997 and 2002-2005, twice becoming Russian champion with the team.
