The greatest fans of the Polish People’s Republic. Polish women couldn’t take their eyes off them

They went down in the history of Polish cinematography and theater thanks to their unforgettable roles. Handsome, athletic and charismatic. They seduced multitudes of Polish women from the screens, playing the roles of lovers, tough guys, soldiers and noblemen. Each of them had a magnetism that many women could not resist in the times of the Polish People’s Republic.

We are talking about outstanding Polish actors who led Polish cinema to the very top. Many of them managed to make an international career. They created characters, dialogues and situations without which we simply cannot imagine Polish cinema. They acted in the most important films and plays of the era. It was an era of extraordinary talents, and their names are still associated with true acting skill. And although as young actors they were definitely different from today’s beauty canon, it was still impossible to deny their incredible charm.

Women sighed for them, and many men wanted to play the role they played on screens or stages at least once. Who are we talking about? It’s worth remembering this wonderful role Janusz Gajos as Janka Kosa in “Czterej pancerni i pies”. Or Daniel Olbrychski in the role of Kmicic from “The Deluge”? This is just the beginning. Women were also crazy about it Tomasz Stockinger, who played the character of Count Leszek Czyński in “The Quack” from 1981. Thousands of our compatriots also sighed Marek Perepeczki, who played the main role in the TV series “Janosik” from 1974.

It was also very popular among women Leon Niemczyk. This amazing actor could play almost any character. He was excellent both as a king, an intellectual, and as a worker. Moreover, he did not shy away from supporting roles because he believed that he could create something fascinating from each character he played. He claimed to have been married six times and divorced once. His daughter, however, maintained that he was truly married to only two women.

He was another idol of Polish women from those years Jan Englert. The now 80-year-old actor made his debut in 1956 with the role of Zefir in Andrzej Wajda’s “Kanał”. Our parents and grandparents certainly remember with nostalgia his roles in films such as “Salt of the Black Earth” and “Pearl in the Crown”, Kazimierz Kutz, “Lalka”, “Nights and Days” and in the series “Home”.

The whole of Poland admired him for a long time, including: in “Man of Marble”, “Man of Iron”, “The Road”, “The Key”… He also stole the hearts of Polish women Jerzy Zelnik. The actor made his debut in Leonard Buczkowski’s comedy “Smarkula” in 1963. We also remember him primarily for the role of Ramesses XIII and the film adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s novel “Pharaoh”.

You can’t forget about Jerzy Teleszyński and his brilliant roles, including: in “With Fire and Match”, “Deluge”, “CK Dezerterzy” and “Trędowata”. In the years 1997-2000, the actor also played one of the characters in the soap opera “Złotopolscy” broadcast by TVP2.

It is impossible to mention all the names in one article, so our list ends Bohdan Łazuka. The actor was said to be a breaker of women’s hearts. He was particularly weak towards dancers. He was married five times. He spent over 20 years with his last wife Renata – with whom he has a daughter Olga.
