Urdaibai wins the La Concha 2023 men’s Flag after showing off on the second day

Urdiabai won the La Concha Flag 2023 in the men’s category after winning the second day that was held on Sunday, September 10. The Bermeo team offered an authentic exhibition on the second day and as he was also the best on the first, won the final victory.
Urdaibai also won on the first dayalthough he faced the second day with only 1.28 seconds over Hondarribia, 4 on Donostiarra, almost 5 on Orio and 7 on Zierbena. Therefore, five trawlers in less than 8 seconds and all of them started with a real chance of winning.
Before the start of the second day it was known that Ondarroa was disqualified for submitting the lineup for the regatta late. In the end, they participated, but their times didn’t count.
Thus, in the first round they rowed Ondarroa (lane 1), Cabo (lane 2), Zierbena (lane 3) and Getaria (lane 4). Zierbena imposed his law from start to finish and won the round with a time of 19:13.62. He was 31 seconds ahead of Cabo and 43 seconds ahead of Getaria.
After the dispute of the first goal, it was the turn of the honorary round and the reference was Zierbena’s time. In that second round, Orio (street 1), Donostiarra (street 2), Urdaibai (street 3) and Hondarribia (street 4) fought. Urdaibai pulled hard from the beginning and took the lead. Despite this, the team Bermeo needed 5 seconds more than Zierbena to complete the first lageither. Already On the long return leg, Urdaibai pushed and improved Zierbena’s time by 3 secondswith a mark of 19:09.74. Zierbena was second on the second day despite having rowed in the first round. Third place went to Hondarribia who crossed the finish line 28 seconds behind Urdaibai, and Donostiarra was fourth to 30. Orio finished fifth at 32 seconds.
Taking into account the times of the two days of the Flag of La Concha, Urdaibai (38:30.66) took first place in the general classification, Zierbena came second (+11 seconds), Hondarribia third (+29 seconds) and Donostiarra fourth (+34 seconds). Fifth place corresponded to Orio (+37″), sixth to Cabo (+1:03) and seventh to Getaria (+1:15).
