“I wanted to return home, because I myself am Russian, from this country. I can’t see myself in the USA on a permanent basis. I was doing what I loved, and here it’s becoming closer and dearer to me. This is my native land,” said the hockey player, emphasizing that he was doing work in the USA.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper signed a contract with Sokol Krasnoyarsk from the Major Hockey League. He will play for a club from Russia for the first time since the 2012/13 lockout in the NHL.

Khudobin has played in the NHL since 2007. In addition to Dallas, he is known for playing for the Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, and Anaheim Ducks. As a member of the Russian national team, he won gold at the 2014 World Championship.
