On Friday, September 8ththe 13th stage of the Tour of Spain 2023, the queen day of this editionthrough some of the most famous peaks of the Pyrenees.
It is a short stage, barely 135 kilometersbut very hard, since it accumulates 4,000 meters of unevenness and in which the cyclists will not have a single breath, since the descent of each port will be immediately followed by the ascent of the next.
The peloton will depart from formigal to face a route marked by four great summits: the first of them will be the portalet port, of 3rd category, whose ascent will mean the start of the day (4.4 km at 5.4%). Then the cyclists will enter French lands to climb the Col d’Aubisque of special category (16.5km at 7.1%), the Col de Spandelles (1st category, 10.3 km at 8.3%) and, finally, the famous Col du Tourmalet also special category (18.9 km at 7.4%).
A stage in which favorites they can’t afford to fail and that will help make things clearer in the general classification.
