Figure skater Grassl left Tutberidze after anti-doping rule violation
The details of the departure of the Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl from the Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze have become known. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the publication, the athlete left the Tutberidze group after violating anti-doping rules. Grassl missed three doping tests. It is noted that the most likely cause is a technical error. The skater told the anti-doping services that he was in Italy, although he was training in Moscow at that time. For violation, he faces disqualification for a period of one to two years.
Grassl announced the termination of cooperation with Tutberidze on September 5. “The experience I got in America and in Russia was very useful. Special thanks to Eteri Tutberidze for professional support and teaching,” said the athlete. He previously trained in the US under Olga Ganicheva and Alexei Letov.
Grassl is the silver medalist of the 2022 European Championship. In the 2022/2023 season, he won the British Grand Prix, took sixth place in the continental championship and 12th in the world championship.
