The Ministry of Sports said that Russia will miss the 2024 Games in most sports
Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Alexei Morozov made a statement about the participation of the national team in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. His words are quoted by the Mutko vs. Telegram channel.
“Russia will miss the Paris Summer Olympics in most sports,” Morozov said. At the same time, the functionary noted that in 26 out of 39 Olympic sports, Russians are already allowed to participate in international tournaments in general.
Earlier, on September 6, the Ministry of Sports announced the total number of athletes who changed their citizenship. “55 athletes in Olympic sports have changed their citizenship, if we take non-Olympic sports, this figure has exceeded 100,” Morozov said.
In March, the International Olympic Committee recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the SVO be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participation in tournaments.
