Messi and Mbappé shine, and PSG thrashes Brugge for the Champions; Leipzig beats City

This Tuesday, the Paris Saint Germain beat Club Brugge, at home, by 4-1. The match at Parque dos Príncipes, valid for the last round of the group stage of Champions League, featured two goals from Kylian Mbappé and another two from Lionel Messi for the home team. Noa Lang made it for the visitors.

With the result, the Parisian team went to 11 points and remained in the vice-leadership of the group A. The Belgian team, on the other hand, finished at the bottom, with four points.

The game – Paris Saint-Germain, coached by Mauricio Pochettino, started the match by putting pressure on Philippe Clement’s team and opened the scoring in the first minute. Mbappé took advantage of the goalkeeper’s rebound after a cross by Nuno Mendes and opened the scoring for the home team.

After six minutes, the young French striker increased PSG’s lead to 2-0. He received a shot from Ángel Di Maria and, facing the goalkeeper, kicked the ball into the right corner.

The French’s third goal came in the 38th minute, with Messi. The Argentine star received a pass from Mbappé, who fired at speed down the left, and hit Simon Mignolet’s right corner from the edge of the area.

Visitors decreased at 23 of the complementary stage. Mats Rits made a great move and passed it to Lang, who scored Brugge’s first in the duel. However, PSG extended the advantage eight minutes later, with Messi, who converted the penalty and sealed the rout.

RB Leipzig vence Manchester City

Also this Tuesday, the RB Leipzig won from Manchester City in Germany. The game at Red Bull Arena ended in a 2-1 victory for the home team, who scored with Dominik Szoboszlai and André Silva. Ryad Mahrez took notes for visitors.

Even with the setback, the Citizens finished in the lead of group A, with 12 points. The German team, which has seven, was in 3rd place, ensuring a spot in the Europa League.

The game – RB Leipzig, under the command of interim Achim Beierlorzer, built up an advantage 24 minutes into the first half. Hungarian midfielder Szoboszlai was fired on in depth by Konrad Laimer, dribbled goalkeeper Zack Steffen and only pushed into the back of the net.

Pep Guardiola’s team also did not have a gala presentation in the second half. At 25 minutes, Silva received a pass from Emil Forsberg and finished low, in the goalkeeper’s left corner, to make it 2-0. However, City decreased six minutes later, with Mahrez, heading, after a cross by Oleksandr Zinchenko. But it wasn’t enough, and Leipzig took the win after the final whistle.
