American boxer Kevin Johnson, who changed his name in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has named a place in Russia for the move. His words are quoted by REN TV.
The athlete said that he would live in Samara. “It’s okay, I still have a US passport. So I go to visit my daughter and family. So there are no problems. I wanted to become a Russian citizen for over 15 years,” he added.
Johnson said he changed his name in honor of Putin on August 9. The boxer noted that now his name will be Kevin Vladimirovich, and stressed that he wanted to make the greatest compliment to the president.
On July 22, Johnson spoke about the dream of living in Russia. According to him, he came to the country for many years, traveled to many cities and villages. Boxer stressed that in Russia there is better food without the addition of GMOs, unlike the United States.
43-year-old Johnson had 58 fights in the professional ring and won 35 victories. The athlete participated in the “Boxing on the Volga” tournament.
