The Federation of Synchronized Swimming of Russia called the decision of World Aquatics a blow
The Federation of Synchronized Swimming of Russia condemned the decision of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) to allow domestic athletes in a neutral status. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
The Federation called the incident a blow to the sport, since out of 11 disciplines, the Russians will be able to perform in four: male and female solo, technical and free programs. In their opinion, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Russians will not take part in group exercises and in a duet.
On September 4, it became known that the World Aquatics bureau allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. Athletes will only be allowed to participate in those events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one athlete. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete.
In April 2022, World Aquatics banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. Domestic athletes missed the World Aquatics Championship, which was held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3.
