The IOC decided on Isinbayeva’s membership in the Athletes’ Commission

Olympic champion Yelena Isinbayeva retains her seat on the IOC Athletes’ Commission

Two-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion in pole vaulting Yelena Isinbayeva retained her place in the Commission of Athletes of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The decision is announced on the website of the organization.

The elected members of the commission, in addition to Isinbayeva, included French biathlete Martin Fourcade, Spanish basketball player Pau Gasol and others. In addition, the President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpischev remained in the commission, which advises the session and the IOC President on strengthening the role of sport in society.

Earlier, the IOC conducted an inspection of Isinbayeva. The IOC Commission concluded that the former athlete could continue to work in the organization, since she did not support the SVO in Ukraine and did not have a contract with the Russian army or law enforcement agencies.

Isinbaeva is a two-time Olympic champion in pole vault, she has 28 world records in this athletics discipline. has been a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission since 2016.
