MMA fighter Volkov said he moved to the US because he “stagnated” in Moscow
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Alexander Volkov explained the decision to move to the United States. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“I have stagnated in Moscow for too long. We have been training there for eight or nine years, in the same gym. Changes were needed, work with new sparring partners, ”Volkov said. He added that he chooses to live in the city, where he can get more experience duels with different fighters.
On July 29, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced the date for Volkov’s next fight. The Russian will fight in heavyweight against Australian Ty Tuivasa. The fight will take place on September 10 at UFC 293 in Sydney.
In total, the 34-year-old Volkov has 36 wins (24 of which by knockout) with ten defeats in mixed martial arts. The Russian has been performing in the UFC since 2016.
