The International Swimming Federation admitted the Russians in a neutral status
The Bureau of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in tournaments in a neutral status. This was reported on the website of the organization.
Athletes will only be allowed to participate in those events where the time or result is determined by the performance of one athlete. It is noted that a maximum of one athlete from Russia per discipline will be allowed to compete. Russians will be prohibited from passing through the mixed media zone and participating in press conferences and interviews.
In April 2022, World Aquatics banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices in 2022. Domestic athletes missed the World Aquatics Championship, which was held in Hungary from June 18 to July 3.
At the end of February, many international sports organizations stopped allowing Russians to compete on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. Russia was also deprived of the right to host major international competitions.
