Valery Karpin called Kerzhakov and six other players to the Russian national team
The head coach of the Russian national football team Valery Karpin called six more players to the September training camp. This was reported in the team’s Telegram channel.
The team will be joined by Zenit players Mikhail Kerzhakov and Alexander Kovalenko, representing Wings of the Soviets Nikita Saltykov and Vladislav Shitov, Rostov defender Danila Prokhin and Rubin midfielder Daniil Kuznetsov.
At the same time, six players, who were initially called to the training camp, will not come to the location of the national team. Midfielder “Paris Nizhny Novgorod” Edgar Sevikyan decided to play for the Armenian national team. Lokomotiv defender Yevgeny Morozov, Wings of the Soviets players Vladimir Khubulov and Sergey Babkin, as well as Krasnodar players Nikita Krivtsov and Alexander Chernikov will miss the training camp for medical reasons.
The composition of the Russian national team for the September training camp, which included 49 players, was announced on August 30. The team will train in Novogorsk from 4 to 12 September. On September 7 and 11, the national team will play two friendly matches with Egypt, and on September 12 they will meet with Qatar.
The Russian national team has not played in international tournaments since February 2022 due to the sanctions of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations.
