CSKA spoke about the admission of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov to the matches of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) despite the ban of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“As for the IIHF disqualification decision, I don’t understand why we have to comply with it? The IIHF itself is not clear on what grounds it suspended our teams from international competitions, ”said Boris Mikhailov, a member of the CSKA Supervisory Board, two-time Olympic champion. He added that he was satisfied with the admission of the hockey player to the games for the club.

Earlier, on September 1, the head of the KHL, Alexei Morozov, announced that the league allowed Fedotov to play in the regular season for CSKA. The athlete was announced for the game against Kazan “Ak Bars”.
On August 14, the IIHF suspended Fedotov for four months. CSKA banned international transfers for a year. The IIHF refused the army team to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s current agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers club of the National Hockey League (NHL).
On July 1, Fedotov signed an agreement with CSKA. The NHL expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, as it violates the goaltender’s contract with Philadelphia, concluded in May 2022. At the same time, the Russian tried to fly to the United States, but he was detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of evading military service.
